Fighting the blind spot EU Directive
2003/97/EC demands supplementary devices to enlarge the driver's
visibility. Trucks have large blind spots in which other vehicles
can disappear from the driver's view. Fatally enough, it's often the
more vulnerable road users who are affected, such as cyclists,
pedestrians or children. The goal of EU Directive 2003/97/EC is to
improve road safety by enlarging the driver's visibility with
"supplementary indirect vision devices". Camera/monitor systems are
explicitly mentioned as suitable devices. The directive stipulates
that all new vehicle models to be launched from 2006 must be
equipped with supplementary indirect vision devices. From 2010 at
the latest, all new vehicles will have to be retrofitted
accordingly. Why wait, when you can do the sensible thing right now?
One option would be to fit theCAM29 camera. Though small in size,
barely larger than a finger tip, it has a great effect: more peace
of mind for the driver and more safety for all other road
users! | |
